What is Lynnwood Cares?
Partner Lynnwood is a collaboration among Edmonds College, the City of Lynnwood, and local business and community leaders established to foster innovation and improve the quality of life for the region. During a meeting in April, the group asked a foundational question: How can we add value to the community through a project or initiative that we can tackle together? The result is Lynnwood Cares, the first-ever city-wide food drive launching this February.
With a team of representatives, including Verdant Health, the Latino Educational Training Institute (LETI), the Lynnwood Food Bank, My Neighborhood News, the Washington West African Center, and the Edmonds School District Foundation’s Nourishing Network, Partner Lynnwood helped design a project that celebrates the city’s incredible diversity. Running throughout February, this initiative addresses local food insecurity, with a specific focus on shelf-stable, culturally relevant foods.
Why Lynnwood Cares
Lynnwood is a wonderfully diverse community, home to vibrant Latino, Middle Eastern, East and West African, and Asian populations. To truly care for all our neighbors, we must ensure they have access to foods that align with their cultural diets and heritage.
Lynnwood Cares is a unified effort to support the diverse community of Lynnwood in a tangible way.
Our goal is to collect items beyond standard staples—moving toward a culturally inclusive food drive. By providing specific grains, authentic spices, and traditional cooking ingredients, we ensure that every family in Lynnwood can prepare nutritious meals that are familiar, comforting, and respectful of their traditions. When we donate with intention, we don’t just fill a stomach; we nourish the soul of our community.
